SCHOOL FILM
We were given the task to go out and make a video including lots of different angles we had learnt. We based our video upon school and environmental issues i.e. littering. We asked some students to talk and take part in our film and asked them to discuss the school and their thoughts.
To open the film we used an establishing shot and then moved it into a 360 degree pan shot, to give the audience knowledge of where the film is set and that it is modern. We used Zoom to take a close up of a ladybird and a pile of leaves showing how little nature there is around our school. We also shot a close up of some litter, this was to show that chewing gum had been dropped so it indicated that students or teachers would have just left their litter lying on the floor deliberately. We then added a camera tilt by focusing the camera on the tree and getting the full image by tilting the camera up and down, we thought this would be a different way to get a close view of the whole tree. We used over the shoulder shots and two shot when the students were talking, this indicated who was speaking and gave you a view as if you were there. We used handheld this gave it a "home video" effect which we felt was more personal to the viewer.

For our transition we used a film strip effect and put an antique filter over it which made it look home made and very personal. we used an upbeat soundtrack to keep the viewer interested and to add more excitement to the film. We set our film outside, so it looked as if it was a normal situation, we created a littered scene which we thought worked well to show the negative effects the students contributed to the school environment. The bright sunlight worked well after we added the 'dream' transition to it. I think continuity is very important as it allows the film to flow and looks alot more professional. I think I need to work on my editing skills/techniques as they are very basic and need to become more complex. I feel more confident making a film as i feel is easier as it is easier to edit, although I prefer making a print based product as I am creative and enjoy that the magazine is more artistic.
